Halloween Party and Haunted Roller Rink

If you are looking for some SPOOKtacular Halloween fun then, be sure to check out the Halloween Party and Haunted Roller Rink this Friday, October 23rd from 5 PM to 8 PM at RecZone in Mammoth Lakes. The Eastern Sierra Dark Sky Festival is this Friday, October 16th through Sunday, October 18th, at the Whitmore Recreation Area. Mammoth Alpine Trampoline Club at Snowcreek Athletic Club

If you are searching for indoor activities for the family then be sure to check out the Mammoth Alpine Trampoline Club at Snowcreek Athletic Club. This facility features five world-class professional trampolines that are available for anyone age 6 and over with an AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) membership. Go to AAUsports.org to become a member for a small annual fee, and register under the Mammoth Alpine Trampoline Club.

Positioned in two rooms on the bottom floor of Snowcreek Athletic Club, one for recreational bouncing and one for classes and elite aerial training with an automated harness, MAT offers sessions and classes for everyone. The trampolines are buried in the ground and surrounded by safety pads.

Trampolining is a great way to condition your body for a variety of snow sports including skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, visit the Mammoth Trampoline Club official website and get ready for winter.

Bodie State Historic Park

The Bodie State Historic Park is open from 9 AM to 6 PM to active recreation with restrictions in place to encourage social distancing. Historic town core accessible for outdoor self-guided tour only.

Did you know that Bodie Ghost Town is the largest unrestored ghost town in the West? Bodie produced gold and silver from 1877 to 1888, and the town grew to 10,000 residents. Once notorious as the wildest town in the West with its saloons and gambling houses. The town is now preserved as a California State Historic Park with weathered buildings, a museum, mine tours, and a visitor center.

Mono County Free Fishing Day

September 5th is free fishing day in Mono County! This is only one of two days out of the year that you can fish without a sport fishing license. Free Fishing Days provide a great, low-cost way to give fishing a try. While all fishing regulations, such as bag and size limits, gear restrictions, report card requirements, fishing hours and stream closures remain in effect, there are two days each year when anyone can fish without purchasing a fishing license.

Tennis at Mammoth Lakes

It’s time to step up your tennis game! The Community Center Park community tennis courts are open as an outdoor only, open-space facility for self-directed use. Organized, group recreation activities are not currently permitted.

Bilingual COVID-19 information and responsible recreation guidelines have been posted at the facility. In addition, USTA guidelines recommend players mark tennis balls so they are not inadvertently shared and avoid changing ends. The restrooms are open; however, the playground will remain closed until further notice in accordance with CDC guidelines.

Get outside this weekend and enjoy this family-friendly recreation area.

Fishing season ends on November 15th so there is still plenty of time to take in Mammoth Lakes stunning scenery while taking your chance at catching a trophy-sized trout.

The Mammoth Lakes Basin (Twin Lakes, Lake Mary, Lake George and Lake Mamie), located above Mammoth Lakes, offers wonderful angling opportunities for Rainbow, Brook and Brown Trout.

Convict Lake, with its crystal-clear water, is full of beautiful rainbow trout and brown trout and some of the best fly fishing is along the San Joaquin River in the Reds Meadow area.

Mammoth Wine Weekend

August 15th the Mammoth Wine Weekend is going virtual. The Mammoth Mountain Community Foundation has partnered with a number of wineries to bring you an amazing way to experience new wine varietals and wineries while still practicing social distancing.  They are offering a variety wine packages that will fit your preference and budget. Packages will be available for pick-up on Saturday, August 15, 2020 from 11am-6pm at the Village in Mammoth Lakes.

Friends of Bodie Day

August 7th and 8th is the 33rd Anniversary of Friends of Bodie day at Bodie State Historic Park. This year’s event will be a virtual event only with reenactments of that strange day in 1879 when several men escorted the bones of W.S. Bodey to town. You will hear the true story from several perspectives and perhaps solve the mystery of the ‘Bones of Bodey’ as you celebrate with music and more.
