Mountain Freedom Camp

The Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra Operation Mountain Freedom camp is this Sunday, January 22nd through Friday, January 27th. This camp provides “An opportunity for military participants with disabilities to experience the exhilaration of adaptive snow sports including alpine and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, and more in a supportive mountain community.”

Eastern Sierra Dark Sky Festival

Time for Summer stargazing. There is something special about laying on the ground looking into the vastness of space on a warm summer night. It restores you hope and connects you to nature. The Eastern Sierra Dark Sky Festival begins Thursday June 23^rd and runs through Sunday June 26^th

The festival is organized by Eastern Sierra Observatory. There will be huge telescopes to observe deep space objects through, lectures from professional astronomers, photography workshops as well as food, beer and wine vendors and much more.

The Eastern Sierra Dark Sky Festival is this Friday, October 16th through Sunday, October 18th, at the Whitmore Recreation Area. Enjoy a weekend full of Stargazing with giant telescopes, astronomy lectures, nighttime photography workshops, vendors/booths, giveaways, food trucks, beer, wine, and more!

Daily and All-Weekend Passes are available, and you have the option to camp onsite in a SHIFTPOD, bring your camper van or RV and park in the parking lot, or reserve a room at the Sierra Nevada Resort, Snowcreek Resort, or your other favorite accommodations.

Winter Adventure Series

ESIA is hosting the fifth annual Winter Adventure Series in Mammoth Lakes, January through February 2020. The Winter Adventure Series seeks to educate, motivate, and inspire attendees to explore the Eastern Sierra through presentations and films by professional athletes, photographers, filmmakers, scientists, and outdoor adventurists.

This Thursday, January 30^th, is your chance to see the “ROTPUNKT” film screening with Ken Etzel and Chelsea Jolly. The film will trace the redpoint—which transformed rock climbing from an engineering problem into a brilliant test of mental and physical strength—from its origins with a ragtag bunch of tights-wearing revolutionaries in rural Bavaria, to its golden era with Wolfgang Güllich, to its new ideal in the German phenom Megos as he battles to unlock new levels of human potential.

Mammoth Rocks – A Taste of the Sierra

Mammoth’s hottest rock music festival is celebrating its 11th year! This Thursday, August 22nd through Saturday, August 24th, bring the whole family to enjoy delectable treats and some of the world’s best classic rock tribute bands as they pay homage to your favorite classic tunes from the 70’s, the 80s, and 90s.

Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra Spring Expo

This weekend is the Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra Spring Expo. This annual fundraiser benefits Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra and their mission to makes the outdoors accessible and affordable for children and adults with disabilities. The Spring Expo will take place Saturday, March 30th from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM. Check out the expo tent at the bottom of Chair 11 where everyone is welcome. Try a ski bike, mono-ski, or a bi-ski.

This event is a great chance to see the slope from a different perspective. Buy a raffle ticket for $5 or 5 tickets for $20. The expo raffle has fabulous prizes.

Mammoth Film Festival

The Second Annual Mammoth Film Festival began this Thursday, February 7th and goes through Monday, February 11th. The festival showcases the work of up and coming filmmakers against the backdrop of California’s stunning Eastern Sierra.

MLFF is a five-day festival that screens independent features and shorts. The organization states that it is “committed to showcasing the talent and imagination of emerging filmmakers and nurturing their efforts to follow their dreams.” In addition to the film festival fun, the festival will also feature a celebrity bowling tournament on Saturday, February 9th at Mammoth Rock ‘N’ Bowl. Some of the celebrities that participated last year included Nina Dobrev, Ashley Greene, Peter Facinelli, Josh Henderson, Kellen Lutz and more!
